Tom läuft seit 2000 und hat bisher weit über 100 Marathons und Ultras gelaufen. Beim "DL2006" belegte er den 10. Platz in der Gesamtwertung. Weitere bedeutende Leistungen: "Yukon Arctic Ultra", 6 Tagelauf in Erkrath, "SwissAlpine" in Davos, "Ultratrail Tour du Mt. Blanc", 48 Std.-Lauf in Köln, "Grand Raid de la Rèunion", "Isarlauf" usw. Laufen ist genau das, was ich tun will. Ohne zu wissen, warum und wieso. Alleine die Kombination aus Glück, Zufriedenheit und Freiheit, die ich dabei empfinde genügt für mich als Begründung und Motivation. Es mag wenig sinnvoll erscheinen, sich bewusst in eine schlechte Situation zu begeben, nur aus Freude darauf, dass man sie überwinden kann. Und doch, sind es genau die Erinnerungen, die mir von bisherigen Läufen geblieben sind. Ich freue mich auf zwei, gut organisierte, Monate Ultralauf. Ich möchte Europa und seine Bewohner kennen lernen und täglich meinem Hobby nachgehen zu können. Das Gitarrespielen, mein zweites Hobby, muss so lange ruhen.
